RAM Achievements 2009

First of all, a big thank you to everyone who has helped RAM to it's most successful year ever. We have some wonderful models and artists out there and are very proud of you all.

Thanks also to Vic Stevens the father and founder of RAM, who retired (semi!) last year. Thanks Vic for all your hard work over the years - I hope we're doing you proud!

The website is currently undergoing modification which should bear fruit early next year. Thanks to Keith Bacon for all his patient work on it - and to all of you RAM members for waiting so long for modifications.

Another huge thing that has happened (unexpectedly) this year is the creation and success of RAM organised life drawing hen sessions. These sessions bring life drawing to people who normally wouldn't dream of doing any such thing - and also much needed employment to male models. Thanks to all models and artists who have helped make this such a success!

Rachel McCarthy, who does a sterling job representing RAM, has appeared on the Jeremy Vine show, talking about models' rights and pay (or lack of!). She also acted as advisor on the BBC's "Naked" series. And has been interviewed by the Guardian about life modelling and in New Society for Carol Driver's article about life modelling. Also an artlcle (now deleted) appeared about Rachel and her role in modelling for Ron Mueck's "Spooning Couple". Rachel asks us to add that that is NOT her stomach - you'll understand when you look at the sculpture!

On top of interviews - the above are only a small proportion of interviews carried out- we also constantly advise models and tutors on the rights and pay of models. As you all know, if it wasn't for RAM, life modelling wouldn't be in such a good position today. And we weed out weak links , both among models and artists. Without us, models and artists have no real voice. We are the organisation the press and the life art industry always refer to about important matters.

We promise to keep up the good work next year- spread the word!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
